About the event
Central London Orchestra's Summer concert promises a programme that celebrates the British musical identity, with Edward Elgar's first symphony, the emotional depth and lush orchestration of which established him as a celebrated composer, and his Cockaigne Overture, also known as “In London Town,” capturing our city’s diverse energy and lively atmosphere. Complementing these pillars of English music, is the lesser known On the Cliffs of Cornwall, an excerpt from The Wreckers opera by pioneering composer and suffragette, Dame Ethyl Smyth.
