About the event

Join us for an unforgettable night as we journey through the vibrant streets of New York and the tumultuous landscapes of Soviet Russia. Our orchestra proudly presents Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.

Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue will sweep you off your feet with its jazzy rhythms and lush melodies, capturing the essence of the Roaring Twenties. This iconic piece blends classical music with jazz influences, creating a soundscape that is both exhilarating and timeless. We're excited to perform this piece with soloist Arthur Kokerai, a bright, charismatic young musician studying at the Royal Academy of Music.

In contrast, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, reflecting the composer’s response to political pressures and personal turmoil. This powerful symphony is a testament to resilience and artistic expression, with its dramatic crescendos and hauntingly beautiful themes.

Don’t miss this extraordinary concert that promises to stir…
